IAN'S INVESTMENT INSIGHTS
On the first Friday of every month, Long Wave Analytics publishes Ian's Investment Insights. In this publication Ian's intention is to give his readers the benefit of the investment knowledge he acquired as a stockbroker for more than 25 years.
Anyone who knows Ian realizes that he strives to be the very best that he can be at anything he undertakes and so it was in his career as a stockbroker; Ian wanted to learn all that he could about investing. Even before he entered the field he was reading all that he could about it. He subscribed to Stan Weinstein's technical market newsletter and Donald Hoppe's letter, "The Kondratieff Wave Analyst", which he ultimately used as the basis for his own work on Kondratieff. He still has a copy of every "Kondratieff Wave Analyst newsletter" that he received as a subscriber and frequently refers to Donald Hoppe's work in his writings.
During the past thirty years, Ian has been avid reader of books on investing and financial and economic history and has amassed an enviable library on these subjects. In particular he has collected any book written by W. D. Gann or about him. He believes that W. D. Gann was the greatest trader who has ever lived and is looking for a little of W. D. Gann to rub off on himself. W.D. Gann wrote that you will have to read his book "Tunnel Though the Air" at least three times before you understand his investment philosophy. Ian has done that but still believes there is much more to Gann than he has been able to ascertain from reading this book three times. He also has almost all the books written by Robert Prechter, not just because Mr. Prechter acknowledged Ian's work on Kondratieff in his book "Conquer the Crash'', but because of his Elliott Wave writings and in particular his fantastic insights into crowd behaviour.
From his earliest days as a stockbroker Ian became a student of Technical Analysis and over the years has learnt from the very best in that field.
Ian subscribes to a myriad of newsletter writers because he believes they provide additional insights into the economy and the markets in general. He also reads some blogs that he considers helpful in this realm.
Not least is Ian's own unique work on the Long Wave Cycle, which he has developed far beyond anything Nicolai Kondratieff ever envisaged. Most importantly, Ian has categorically demonstrated that in each season of the Long Wave Cycle there are investment mediums that win and ones that lose. In the winter, which is the current Long Wave season, the only investment that will make money is precious metals, particularly gold; investments in the general stock market and in real estate are doomed to fail.
In "Ian's Investment Insights" you receive all this background knowledge gained over at least thirty years, but in addition you receive Ian's specific details in how he manages his own investment account and the stocks that he believes are worthy of your investment attention.

Thank you to the subscriber that pointed out that FXI, mentioned on page 3, is a long play ETF in China. Here is the answer that I received when I asked the question, of someone I trust, what is the best way to short China?
“There's the Pro Shares Short FTSE/Xinhua China 25 ( Ticker YXI), the Pro Shares Ultra Short FTSE/Xinhua China 25 (ticker FXP) and the Direxion Daily China Bear 3x (Ticker CZI). All of these are NYSE stocks. They are single, double and triple leveraged ETF's respectively.
FXP is the most liquid, but clearly with leveraged ETF's, they rebalance daily, so the returns can deviate significantly from the underlying indexes - so really a day trade play. Indeed, I don’t play these for that reason.
You can short the liquid China (long) ETF (Ticker FXI) and/or buy put options as well.”
I have not personally taken on these short China positions, so, please do your own due diligence.
